SPQ13 Austin

This weekend I replaced my bearings on my boat trailer because the seal was bad. Took everything completely apart and found that the grease has got hot and ran when I took it apart. Replaced the race and packed with grease. Went smooth and work perfect now they are brand new. Also found a problem with my castle nut being hard to take off so i tap n dyed the shaft and the nut for both on each side.

  1. Hi Austin,

    It's good to have the boat ready. (;

    A note on blocking for you to think about.

    I like to block with wood...if you think about that glue-lam piece you used, it will support a lot of weight in the position you have it here.

    BUT, think of how you split wood. It splits quite easily in the direction you are placing it. I like to place a 2 x on top of the end grain so that the piece does not split on you. Sure, the place and position you are using it here will not likely give you any problems, but we need to be conscious of this, say, if we were blocking up one corner of the Peterbilt. Make sense?

    Happy boating!

    Jeff
