Spq14 Austin

This past week we finished the engine and it was fun but I am glad it is done. Now onto the 3516 engine tomorrow. It was a great learning experience on how to find and assemble different parts of the engine I wasn't familiar with.

This past week I have been waiting for the tranny parts to arrive so it can be installed on my truck. Today we got the tranny on the jack and going to be installing it tomorrow. Learning from Bill of the different parts and functions of a tranny. Today I learned about the actual definition and gave me a visual of a torque converter and the benefits from a single to a triple.

We went to Kenwoth and got another great tour.
It's crazy how detailed and clean it is. I never noticed how big the oil trucks they make are.
Its just amazing to me and the different places they are shipped and how many trucks each plant makes a day.

Spq14 Austin

This past week I signed up for Alcoa foundation. It will be nice to work with some new people and help me pay for tools with their help.

This past week Travis and I have been measuring all the measurements needed for our Mercedes diesel engine. I have looked at the book for a long time. I found out the correct measurements and was amazed how far off they were. We finished the engine worksheet and Travis will post the paper on his blog.

I took my tranny out of my truck and am rebuilding it. I did the testing on the temperature sensor on the board.

Hours this week: 31

I guess I didn't post the pictures from the worksheet from last week so here they are.

Spq14 Austin

This week at work I've been taking apart a mixer so I can replace the drum, so far I've taken the water tank, z drive loose, the hatch cover, all new tires, kingpin and few misc. things. I've learned in class how to properly use a gauge to measure cylinder bore and use the micrometer properly and feel a lot more comfortable now. I feel like I've learned a lot these past couple weeks from research for our Mercedes engine.

This past week we have been doing electrical and sensors. Not much going on at work besides brakes and seals but practice makes perfect. I learned this past week about a pressure sensor and how they work. This week we are starting engines and we got the Mercedes.
